For all women’s body shapes we have some beautiful plus size shapewear here at Sexy Plus, that will help flatter your curves and give you the beautiful silhouette that you desire.
The fashion industry uses words like 'apple', 'pear' and 'banana' to describe a woman’s body shape but what exactly do the different shapes mean? And what ’shape’ are you?!
Here’s a simple guide to help you find the correct clothing and underwear.
To start with you should measure your plus size body shape by following these guidelines.
Bust
Measure over the fullest part of your bust and around your torso. This should be under your armpit and keeping the tape measure parallel at all times.
Waist
Measure around the narrow part of your body, this will be your most natural waistline. Again, measure around your whole body.
Hips
Keep your feet together and measure around the widest part of your hips. This should include your backside and is usually where your legs meet your body.
Once you have your measurements, here’s a useful guide to determine your shape
1) Pear Shaped
This means that your hip measurement is greater than your bust measurement. So that means your lower body is larger than your upper body and you probably have a smaller bust and flatter stomach.
Your hip measurement is probably greater than the width of your shoulders.
So, because your waist is relatively small you should wear clothes that highlight both your waist and your bust.
2) Apple Shaped
‘Apple shape’ means you are a woman who has broader bust and shoulders than you do hips. This type of woman is larger on her upper body than her lower half. You probably have narrow hips with a fuller bust and a larger stomach. Your stomach area is usually wider than both your shoulder and hips.
The central area of your body gives the impression of being round and wide and hence the name ‘apple shape’.
To really enhance your look, you should try and define more clearly your waist whilst adding accessories to your top half.
A Minimiser Bra is a great way to enhance your cleavage.
3) Pear Shaped
Typically, a ‘pear shaped’ woman has a small top half and larger lower body. This usually means that the shoulders are slightly narrower than the hips. Typically this also means a smaller bust with a flat stomach.
When buying clothes, accessories or lingerie, it is essential that you highlight your top half. So for example a push up bra and an eye catching large necklace will look great.
4) Hourglass Shape
Women with an ‘hourglass shape’ are really blessed! They have perfectly proportioned upper and lower bodies. This means that their hips and bust are virtually the same size and they have a narrow waist.
This shape is often described as ‘ideal’ and so you have a great opportunity to ‘dress to impress’. The over-riding objective should be to draw attention to a clearly defined waist.
5) Banana Shape
Where a woman has very similar measurements for her waist, hips and shoulders, this is often referred to as ‘banana-shaped’.
The difference between this shape and hourglass is the waist, as in this instance it is not much smaller than the bust or hips and is not clearly defined.
Therefore the priority here is to draw your admirer’s eye to your waist.
A waist cincher is a great solution for this body shape.
